Tread Depth Law

Good tires are important to the safety of your vehicle

California Department of Transportation requires that no dealer shall mount a tire that has 1/32 inch of tread or less.

For this reason, we are not able to rotate tires if the tread depth is at or below 1/32 inch in any two adjacent grooves at any location of the tire. In such cases, if you are unable to purchase a tire or if your tire size is not currently in stock, we will try to provide a loaner tire.

Vehicle Code Section 27465.1
No dealer shall sell or install on a vehicle axle for use on a highway, a pneumatic tire when the tire has less than the tread depth specified in subdivision (1): One thirty-second (1/32) of an inch tread depth in any two adjacent grooves at any location of the tire.
