The Toyo Proxes RA1 is a Racetrack & Autocross Only tire designed for drivers who want street-legal circuit tires that are consistent, durable and competitive. In developing the Proxes RA1 tires, Toyo’s intent was to produce a tire that would provide an unusual advantage to cost-conscious contestants who want quick lap times including long tire life.
Although the RA1 radials meet DOT standards, they should never be driven, if shaved or worn, in wet conditions especially where standing water is present. Drivers should reduce speed and drive cautiously to limit hydroplaning risks. The Proxes RA1 is similar to all Racetrack & Only tires and should never be driven in temperatures close to freezing. Storage recommendation for the RA1 radials is indoors at a consistent temperature above 150 F.
Features of the Proxes RA1 include an R- Compound material that is soft, durable and heat tolerant to constant heat cycles. Molded into a regular stepped tread design, the R- Compound allows the tire to deliver competitive handling and high performance. A new RA1 tire carries a tread depth of 8/32"and features independent tread block and groove design to maximize wet traction. Shaving reduces tread depths to increase direct contact with the track for improved dry traction. Enhanced dry traction occurs at 6/32", and lateral grooves vanish at about 4/32". With only two circumferential grooves remaining when the tire is worn at 3/32”, the Proxes RA1 increases its capability to deliver excellent dry traction.
The internal structure of the RA1 features an advanced competitive improved radial construction to deliver better driving performance around the corners and quick acceleration onto the straight-ways.
Set-up guidelines recommended by Toyo Tires for the Proxes RA1:
