The CrossContact LX is one of Continental's Crossover and SUV touring all season tires that was developed to help crossovers, sport utility vehicles, and light duty pickup trucks perform better on the highway, and better in light off-road conditions. The CrossContact LX is designed to have reduced noise and enhanced rolling resistance, which is improved fuel economy, all while enhancing ride comfort, and all season traction, even in light snow. The CrossContact LX molds Continental's patented Tri-net silica tread compound, into its asymmetric tread which helps to deliver superb all season handling and traction. Its notched shoulder is supported by a circumferential rib which promotes steering response on the road, as well as straight-line stability and ride comfort. Three rows of tread blocks featuring interlocking sipes help to enhance traction in light snow. Four broad circumferential grooves feature a tapered profile ( which means they widen at the tread surface) to resist hydroplaning and also help to reduce the possibility of tire damage from stones catching in the tread. Continental's patented acoustic Alterra technology, which was derived from studying how sound moves over all surfaces, helps to reduce road noise. The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts that provide strength on top of a polyester cord body that reinforces the tire and also helps to soften the ride. All CrossContact LX sidewall's have built in rim protectors, which to help reduce the possibility of curb damage to expensive wheels.
